Fear Free is an approach to pet care that focuses on reducing fear, anxiety, and stress. Instead of expecting pets to adapt to us, we adapt our approach to meet each pet’s individual comfort level.
As a Fear Free Certified Professional, I use gentle, relationship-based techniques that help pets feel safe, respected, and understood. Whether your pet is outgoing, shy, young, senior, or has special needs, my goal is to make every visit as calm and positive as possible.
We happily care for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and many other small animals. We also provide care for small farm animals.
Every pet is an individual, and we tailor our care to their unique personality, routine, and needs—whether they’re energetic, shy, senior, or require specialized support.
That’s completely okay! Every pet is different, and we never expect them to warm up to someone right away. We take the time to build trust at your pet’s pace, always respecting their comfort level and boundaries.
Using Fear Free principles, patience, and positive interactions, our goal is to help every pet feel safe, secure, and comfortable. Some pets become instant friends, while others need a little more time—and we’re happy to let the relationship develop naturally.
Absolutely. We have extensive experience caring for senior pets, puppies, kittens, and pets with medical or mobility needs. Every care plan is tailored to your pet’s routine, comfort level, and individual needs.
Whether your pet needs medication, mobility assistance, extra potty breaks, a slower pace, or simply a little more patience, we’re committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate care that helps them feel safe and comfortable.
Yes! We have experience administering a variety of medications, including pills, liquid medications, topical treatments, eye and ear medications, and insulin injections.
Your pet’s health and comfort are always our priority. We’ll review your pet’s medication routine during the Meet & Greet to ensure we’re comfortable with their specific needs and can provide care safely and confidently.
Yes! One of the benefits of choosing Pisgah Pet Care is consistency. Your pets won’t be cared for by a rotating team of unfamiliar faces. Instead, they’ll build a relationship with the same trusted caregivers who take the time to learn their personality, routine, and individual needs.
Familiarity helps pets feel more comfortable, reduces stress, and allows us to notice even subtle changes in their behavior, health, or routine.
Yes! Elizabeth is certified in Pet CPR & First Aid and is also a Fear Free Certified Professional. While we hope to never face an emergency, we believe ongoing education and preparation help us provide safer, more confident care for every pet.
Your pet’s safety is our highest priority. If an emergency arises, we’ll contact you immediately. If veterinary care is needed and you’re unavailable, we’ll follow the emergency plan discussed during your Meet & Greet and seek care from your preferred veterinarian whenever possible.
We believe preparation provides peace of mind, which is why we’ll review emergency contacts, veterinary information, and your pet’s medical history before your first visit.
Yes! Pisgah Pet Care is fully bonded and insured, giving you added peace of mind while your pets and home are in our care.
Absolutely! After every visit, you’ll receive a detailed update along with photos so you know exactly how your pet is doing. We’ll let you know how they ate, drank, played, pottied, took medications (if applicable), and anything else we’d want to know if we were in your shoes.
Our goal is to help you enjoy your time away with confidence, knowing your pets are happy, safe, and well cared for.
Yes! Every new client begins with a complimentary Meet & Greet.
During this visit, we’ll get to know you and your pets, learn their routines, discuss their individual needs, answer any questions you may have, and make sure we’re a great fit for one another. Our goal is for both you and your pets to feel comfortable and confident before services begin.
We proudly serve Asheville and many surrounding communities. If you’re unsure whether you’re within our service area, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out, and we’ll be happy to let you know if we can accommodate your location or discuss possible options.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or schedule changes whenever possible. This allows us to adjust our schedule and offer appointments to other clients. We understand emergencies happen and always strive to be fair and understanding.
At this time, we specialize in personalized drop-in visits, dog walks, adventure hikes, and pet transportation rather than overnight stays. This allows us to provide focused, individualized care while maintaining the routines many pets are most comfortable with.
No. We believe most pets are happiest and least stressed when they can remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. By caring for pets in their own environment, we help maintain their routines while reducing unnecessary anxiety.
Yes! While caring for your pets, we’re happy to bring in packages, water plants, rotate lights, take trash bins to and from the curb, and perform other small household tasks that help keep your home looking lived in while you’re away. Just let us know what you need during your Meet & Greet.
No. While dog parks can be enjoyable for some dogs, they also introduce unpredictable situations that can increase the risk of injury, illness, or stressful interactions. Instead, we focus on enriching one-on-one walks, hikes, playtime, and adventures tailored specifically to your dog’s personality and comfort level.
No. Every walk is private and dedicated exclusively to your dog. Individual walks allow us to focus on your pet’s pace, behavior, and comfort while reducing stress and avoiding unnecessary risks that can come with group walks.
